What would you say publicly if you were certain it couldn't follow you home — and what does it cost your community that you can't?
Online identity offers two poisoned options: surveilled (real names, harvested documents, brokered dossiers) or fake (bots, sockpuppets, sybils) — and every civic space pays for it, either in chilled speech or in manufactured consensus.
Proving personhood without identity: one verified human behind every voice, cryptographically — while the platform remains structurally unable to know who that human is, or to connect their accountable face to their protected one.

A settled position, stated plainly and kept honest by repair: if this analysis is wrong, it should be visibly wrong enough to be challenged and corrected.
The system is built to monetize identity, not to establish personhood — knowing *who you are* sells; knowing *that you're one real human* doesn't. That's why it stays broken: the surveillance side profits from collecting identity (data brokers, ad targeting, credential bureaus) while the fraud side profits from faking it (bot farms, engagement mills, influence operations) — and the arms race between them bills both directions, with anti-fraud vendors selling friction that never ends the war that funds them. The inefficiency amplifies itself: every fake account degrades trust, degraded trust demands more verification, and more verification harvests more identity from the honest while the professional fakers route around it. The business types that profit: data brokers and identity-graph vendors, engagement-fraud suppliers, the verification-friction industry, and every platform whose "active user" numbers quietly include the machines. The lock-in: both sides of the war profit from its continuation; only the humans in the middle pay. Fixing it starts with the questions below.
